This site is my personal portfolio. I keep data collection to a minimum and I never sell it. This page explains what I collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What I collect
Through the contact form, I collect only what you choose to send:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The subject and message you write
I use this only to read your message and reply to you. I do not add you to any mailing list.
If you say yes in the cookie banner, I also use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. If you decline, or never choose, it does not run. The details are under Analytics and cookies below.
Spam protection
The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions come from real people and not bots. To do this, Cloudflare may process technical signals from your browser, such as your IP address and interaction data. This is handled by Cloudflare and covered by their privacy policy.
Analytics and cookies
I use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful, and it only runs if you say yes. The first time you visit, a small banner asks for your choice. Google Analytics loads only after you click Accept. If you click Decline, or never make a choice, it never loads.
Once you accept, Google Analytics measures things like:
- The pages you visit
- How you arrived, such as from a search engine or a link on another site
- Your approximate location
- Your device and browser type
It sets first-party cookies named _ga, _ga_0P52ESVL9M, and _ga_RFBPQC3K4B in your browser. By default they expire 2 years after your last visit. Even if you accept, advertising cookies and ad personalization stay turned off. To learn more, read Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Two small settings are saved in your browser's local storage: your cookie choice, so the banner does not ask again, and your light or dark theme, so the site remembers it on your next visit. You can clear them anytime through your browser settings.
If you accept, the site also keeps a short list of the pages you open in that tab, in your browser's session storage, so Google Analytics records the right page titles. It is cleared when you close the tab or choose Decline.
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer, or right here: . Choosing Decline withdraws your consent and deletes the analytics cookies.
How your message is handled
When you send the form, your message is delivered to my email inbox so I can respond. My web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and troubleshooting. This is normal for any website.
How long I keep it
I keep contact messages only as long as I need them to help you and to keep a record of our conversation. If you want me to delete your message and details, just ask.
Sharing
I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. I only use the services needed to run this site and reply to you, such as Cloudflare for spam protection and my web host for email delivery and hosting. Google Analytics, a Google service, is optional and runs only if you accept it in the cookie banner.
Your choices
You can ask me to access, correct, or delete the information you have sent, or ask any question about how it is handled. Email me at dev@kennethpaulgarcia.com and I will take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If I change how this site handles information, I will update this page and the date above.
